How do I order my books?

Each semester, you will receive an email announcing the deadline for submitting books for the following semester through the official online service used by the college to order books. Even if you are not ordering a book for a course, please indicate on the system that no book will be required. (This is in keeping with federal law.)

Currently, the college uses the company eCampus as its online bookstore. You can submit book orders directly to eCampus up through the date indicated in the email. After that date, orders must go through your department head or departmental assistant. Here is a video to a demo of the eCampus portal: https://vimeo.com/802545887/fca532700e.

Even if you are not ordering a book for a course, please indicate on the system that no book will be required. (This is in keeping with federal law.) Until you submit an adoption or indicate that no text is required, the students will see this note: “Textbooks are still being determined for this course. Please check back.” If you indicate that no texts are required the students will see this, more helpful, message: “There is no textbook required for this course.”

Many students still report that their faculty members are not using materials that are marked as “required” adoptions. Please make sure that your students understand early in the semester why a textbook was required and ensure that they are using it. Requiring purchases that are not used teaches students to delay future purchases of textbooks for other classes. If you will not be requiring the materials during your class but hope your students will purchase supplemental material, please be sure to mark these materials as optional and explain the benefits of having those materials to your students.

If you have students who indicate that they are having trouble funding their textbooks, please contact Assistant Provost Sarah Kibler or Samantha Wilkins in the Office of Financial Assistance.

Any other questions about textbook adoptions should be directed to Sarah Kibler (sakibler@meredith.edu).

If you are interested in using free or low cost materials for your classes, contact Jake Vaccaro (vaccaroj@meredith.edu) or Carrie Nichols (nicholsc@meredith.edu) to explore options including the use of library resources as text materials for your class.
